CHAPEL HILL, NC Feb. 21, 2014 – For the third time this season, the College of Charleston track and field team heads to Chapel Hill, N.C., on Saturday, to take part in the Dennis Craddock Invitational, a one-day meet hosted by the University of North Carolina.
The meet will be held at the Eddie Smith Field House, the same venue in which the Cougars competed during both the Joe Hilton Invitational and the Tar Heel Open earlier this indoor season.
Competition will begin at 10:00 a.m., beginning with the weight throw. Track events start at 12:40 with the women’s 60-meter hurdles.
“This should be a competitive meet,” said head coach Amy Seago. “We are working on becoming more race/competition savvy and developing the edge necessary to come through when the pressure is on and it matters the most.”
The Cougars have been strong in the first three meets of the indoor season, having looked very good in their opening two outings in Chapel Hill, N.C., before another quality performance last weekend at the JDL Fast Track in Winston Salem.
“We are making progress,” said Seago. “But we still have a lot more to do to be competitive in the CAA. What matters most in achieving great performances is belief in one’s ability. Our workouts prove this, but we need to step it up in the competitive environment to truly achieve our potential.”
This will be the Cougars final meet prior to the ECAC indoor Championships, to be held in Boston, Mass, Friday, Mar. 7 – Sunday, Mar. 9.
